Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil, toasted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup cooked rice or noodles
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)

Method
 

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking into small pieces.
  3. Stir in onion, garlic, ginger, and bell pepper; cook 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Mix in brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  5. Add green onions; simmer 3-5 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve over cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

Use tamari instead of soy sauce for gluten-free option
